Doral takes reforestation program to Barceloneta

Doral Bank recently took its “dparques” reforestation program to Barceloneta, where it will begin this year’s schedule of planting trees and gardens in low- or moderate-income communities.
The bank, with the support of the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources, is developing green areas in the town, for the benefit of families residing in surrounding communities.
“Doral’s initiative has real and positive impact; 85 trees were planted in Barceloneta and this is only the beginning for this year. We are happy to have this institution as allies for a cause such as this one,” said Javier Pagán, regional director of the DNER.
Doral’s environmental program has been reforesting and embellishing public community spaces for five years and this year it seeks to impact municipalities that have not been visited in past years.
“Parks are a place for unity, community and family. Reforesting and enhancing the qualities of a park help strengthen any community. With our alliances, we provide tools that help spur education and the enjoyment of families in spaces like these,” said Lucienne Gigante, Doral’s executive vice president of marketing and community.
Since its inception, “dparques” has reforested 19 parks in communities throughout the island. Furthermore, more than a million people have been educated through environmental conservation seminars and financial education workshops.
