Minneapolis-based- ATK announced today that its Eagle Industries business has received an additional $24.9 million contract from Marine Corps Systems Command to produce the U.S. Marine Corps’ new standard-issue pack.

Work for the second order will be performed in Eagle Industries’ two Puerto Rico manufacturing plants and is expected to be complete by Jan. 31, 2013. The combined contracts are valued at $75 million.

The news of this follow-on delivery order comes only two weeks after the initial contract was announced.

“The new USMC pack system provides Marines with a simple and effective load-carriage system that can easily be customized to support their mission, with or without body armor,” said ATK Security and Sporting group President Ron Johnson. “We are honored to have been selected as a key supplier of this mission-critical product and proud of our role in supporting the Marines.”

The new load bearing equipment system is designed to allow Marines to carry equipment needed in support of combat operations.

The U.S. Marine Corps’ new pack increases the overall combat effectiveness of the user by maximizing the ability to carry combat loads more efficiently, minimizing the burdens of weight and improving overall system compatibility.

ATK is an aerospace and defense company with operations in 22 states, Puerto Rico and internationally, and revenues of approximately $4.8 billion. News and information can be found on the Internet at www.atk.com.
