SBA, AARP renew ‘Summer of Encore Mentoring’ events
The U.S. Small Business Administration and AARP announced Tuesday they have renewed their “Summer of Encore Mentoring” educational events targeting entrepreneurs over the age of 50 who want to start or grow their small business.
Building on the success of last year’s “Summer of Encore Mentoring,” the SBA and AARP are matching encore entrepreneurs with successful business owners, community leaders and advisers for advice, counseling and training assistance this summer.
In Puerto Rico, the SBA and AARP will co-host a mentoring event on August, Wednesday 17, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the SBA district office in Hato Rey.
“We are pleased to continue our collaboration with AARP’s state office in Puerto Rico,” said SBA District Director Yvette T. Collazo. “Together, for the past four years we have extended mentoring and technical assistance resources to the island’s 50 plus population, and have helped them start new businesses or improve their existing operations. We look forward to many more years of this working relationship.”
The “Summer of Encore Mentoring” consists of nationwide events that pair encore entrepreneurs with experienced small business mentors. The events also help connect encore entrepreneurs with mentors from the SBA’s resource partner network of Small Business Development Centers, Women’s Business Centers, and SCORE chapters who can help with every stage of a business’ life cycle.
