EVERTEC takes silver in ‘Financial Fitness Challenge’
Educated Investor recently awarded transaction processing firm EVERTEC the silver for successfully participating in the Financial Fitness Challenge, an event organized in Puerto Rico by the Office of the Commissioner of Financial Institutions’ Institute for Financial Education in collaboration with the Society for Human Resources Management.
This program provided companies in Puerto Rico the opportunity to give their employees a tool to learn how to efficiently plan and manage their finances.
Marcelino Zayas, senior vice president of Human Resources at EVERTEC, said more than 50 percent of the company’s employees who registered for 10-week online course completed it. Participants received a new educational content on a weekly basis on various financial aspects and took reading comprehension tests.
“We are proud of this recognition and grateful for the opportunity to make available to our employees financial knowledge that will help them improve their personal finances,” he said.
“It was a very relevant topic given the economic challenges we face in the island and know it will have a multiplier effect on their families. In addition, financial literacy contributed to lower levels of stress, which can affect productivity at work,” Zayas said.
