Executives being ‘kidnapped’ to support MDA fundraiser
Executives who participate in the “kidnapping” have until June 30 to raise funds for the MDA.
Careers Inc. is “kidnapping” executives for the 15th edition of the “Careers Most Wanted Executives Safari Edition” to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
For the event, an executive will previously agree with the Careers Inc. “hunters” to allow them to “kidnap” them in exchange for payment of a minimum $2,000 “ransom.” These funds will be used to sponsor children with muscular dystrophy, from 6 to 17 years of age, to attend a residential summer camp, specially created for them.
The executives may organize their own fundraising activities before being “kidnapped.” The “kidnapping” will take place June 11 and the executive will pay the “ransom” at an event in the Wildlife Museum.
“Our goal this year is to raise a minimum of $50,000, and we have about 30 executives who have volunteered to be kidnapped. However, we urge more executives to join this beautiful act of love, because if more executives get involved, we will raise more money and therefore more children with muscular dystrophy will be able to participate in a summer camp designed especially for their needs,” said Carla Deyo, Careers Inc. “hunter.”
“MDA has been organizing this Summer camp for 35 years at the Centro del Leonismo of Puertorriqueño in Barranquitas. Our camp helps children and teenagers suffering from neuromuscular illnesses to develop confidence in themselves, and it offers them the opportunity to feel free and independent,” said Helga Rosado, Regional Director of the MDA.
“MDA has designed this camp so participants can create bonds of affection and can share their experiences during a week with other children and teenagers who understand what living with a neuromuscular disease is all about,” she said.
