Famous Dave’s launches Children’s Hospital benefit campaign
A life-sized “Wilbur the Mascot” holds a stuffed-animal version of himself.
BBQ franchise Famous Dave’s, which opened its first restaurant in Puerto Rico earlier this year, announced Tuesday the start of a benefit campaign on behalf of the Children’s Hospital.
The restaurant will donate all of the proceeds of the sale of the stuffed animal version of its mascot “Wilbur” to the hospital, so that it can buy a special vehicle to transport the kids who reside at the facility. Each stuffed pig costs $10.
“Famous Dave’s is a family restaurant and we’re very pleased when families enjoy it with their children. For us it is important to contribute to the community that supports us and so we join the Children’s Hospital in this fundraising effort so they may continue with their work and providing services,” said Alex Lignos, business planning director for Famous Dave’s Puerto Rico.
Meanwhile, María López, executive director of the Children’s Hospital said Famous Dave’s contribution will help the nonprofit continue its efforts “to offer more and better opportunities to the families of the little ones that receive therapeutical services from the hospital.”
