FM station SalSoul changes frequency
Effective Dec. 26, tropical music station SalSoul will move to a new frequency on the FM dial, taking over the 99.1 slot in response to a determination by the Federal Communications Commission that seeks to make way for new airwaves serving Puerto Rico’s eastern-central and western regions.
“The new 99.1 FM frequency will give us cleaner and better coverage in areas that we didn’t reach before,” said Luis Soto, President of Uno Radio Group, which owns the radio station. “We know we have a big challenge ahead with this frequency move, but if the challenge is big, even greater is the support that we have from the most loyal audience in existence.”
“We’re confident that we will move our audience in record time and will continue to offer the best and most varied programming,” he said.
The station will take advantage of this juncture to launch several efforts to grow it audience base, including an advertising campaign in traditional and alternative media, expand its social media efforts and launch a smartphone “app,” all at a $200,000 investment.
Salsoul 99.1 will continue to operate in Caguas, in the same location it is now. The relay stations 100.3FM in the west and 101.1FM in the south will continue airing on those frequencies.
