Rock Solid Technologies Inc., a Puerto Rican firm specializing in technology development and services in Latin America and the United States, announced Wednesday it recently signed a strategic alliance with Dominican firm Gestión Tecnológica (GTEC) to establish operations in the neighboring island nation.

Through the new partnership, Rock Solid is opening an office there, to continue its expansion plans throughout the Caribbean, company executive said.

In recent years, the Dominican Republic has identified itself as one of the main emerging and high-growth economies in the Americas, with the fastest growing economy in the Antilles. This has driven the island to have a high demand in technological services and advances to keep them at the forefront in information technology.

Established in 2006, GTEC is a company specialized in the area of technology that offers products and solutions that help companies to handle different administrative processes. GTEC has stood out for its expertise and for offering solutions that help improve operational performance in the municipal public market, among others.

In related news, Rock Solid announced it annual grant program and internship program for 2017, when it will offer a $1,500 grant to a University of Puerto Rico student enrolled in studies related to information technology, computer science, accounting, computer and software engineering.

“The technology industry is one of the fastest growing in the world, and in Puerto Rico we need to continue to develop local talent. Our commitment to this young talent is to expose them to real experiences that help them form a real picture of the field beyond the classroom,” said Angel Pérez-Galarza, vice president of Rock Solid Technologies.

During the summer stint, the selected student will work directly on information systems development projects for Rock Solid clients both in Puerto Rico, the U.S. mainland, Central America and the Caribbean.

Those interested in applying for the “Rock Solid 2017 Grant” have until Nov. 30 to mail their application. For more information, visit www.rocksolid.com.
