As part of UPS’ community support efforts, four non-profit organizations in Puerto Rico received grants totaling $76,000 from The UPS Foundation

The donations to Casa Peregrino, Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals, Hogar Albergue de Niños and the Pediatric Diabetes Center Foundation will help these organizations provide a better quality of life for people in need.

“The UPS Foundation donations confirm our company’s social commitment. We are pleased to know that, through these donations, the organizations will be able to strengthen the community services they provide, which contribute to helping thousands of people in our communities,” said José Oramas, UPS Puerto Rico General Manager.

From the total grant, $30,000 was split among three organizations. One of them is Casa Peregrino in Aguadilla, which offers meals, emergency shelter and transitional housing, as well as counseling and supportive services to homeless individuals and veterans. The donation will allow the development of an adult literacy program to help improve reading and writing skills.

The second recipient was the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals. Founded in 1976, this organization has the mission of improving, fostering and encouraging educational opportunities to increase the participation of minorities in the aviation and aerospace industries.

Hogar Albergue de Niños in San German provides shelter, as well as specialized care and multidisciplinary services to abused children who were removed from their homes.

Additionally, The UPS Foundation donated $46,000 to the Pediatric Diabetes Center Foundation, which provides free support and educational programs for children and adolescents diagnosed with diabetes, as well as for their families and teachers. Their work is of utmost importance given that Puerto Rico is one of the countries with the highest incidence of pediatric diabetes worldwide.
