ALPFA gathers young professionals in networking event
The event included short presentations by a number of local organizations.
Nonprofit Association of Latino Professionals in Finance & Accounting, or ALPFA, recently hosted a meet-and-greet networking event gathering more than 100 young business professionals from different organizations and colleges looking to form alliances to strengthen Puerto Rico’s economy and education through collaborations, initiatives and creative solutions that pursue positive results.
The event included short presentations by Foundation for Puerto Rico, Moneythink — a national student movement aimed at restoring the economic health of America — the National Society of Hispanic MBAs, Grupo Guayacán, and conPRmetidos, a millenials-led think-and-do tank whose goal is to further innovative solutions that enhance the island’s social and economic competitiveness.
ALPFA is a Hispanic organization with more than 40 years of establishment, 41 chapters throughout the United States and more than 23,000 members. Puerto Rico’s chapter was re-launched last year, and has participation from the island’s major colleges.
“I joined ALPFA when I was a college student so it’s very important for me to educate students willing to grow and become great professionals,” said Raúl A. Palacios, senior associate at PwC and president of Puerto Rico’s ALPFA chapter. “Moreover, we deeply rely on strategic alliances with employers, professional associations, nonprofit organizations and universities to facilitate the opportunities sought by our sponsors, members and community. All of this while we promote entrepreneurial leadership on the island exchanging ideas, experiences and contacts, which leads to a better social integration regardless of age or hierarchic relationships.”
