The business relationship between Gustos Coffee Co. and Chocolate Cortés began in 2013.

Gustos Coffee Co. and Chocolate Cortés signed an agreement to include the latter company’s products in more than 1,800 automated vending machines that serve coffee, chai tea and chocolate in Puerto Rico.

Both local companies are betting that the Chocolate Cortés product will have a great acceptance by the Puerto Rican consumer and will substantially increase sales.

Gustos Coffee Co. estimates a 30 percent increase in hot chocolate sales with the Chocolate Cortés partnership.

“We’re happy to be able to collaborate with Chocolate Cortés as strategic partners,” said Daniel Omar Torres, owner of Gustos Coffee Co. “We consider it will be a long lasting business relationship.”

A special blend of Chocolate Cortés was made so customers can get a great tasting, top quality cup of hot chocolate from the vending machines.

“Omar and I took the task along with Ignacio Javier Cortés Jr. in tasting multiple blends before agreeing to the final product,” said Joel Vera, vice president of sales for Gustos Coffee Co. “In the short time that the product has been launched, we’ve had great acceptance by the consumer who can now taste a delicious cup of hot chocolate with Puerto Rican flavor.”

The business relationship between Gustos Coffee Co. and Chocolate Cortés began in 2013 with the opening of Casa Cortés ChocoBar in San Juan, when Gustos Reserve specialty coffee was chosen as the restaurant’s exclusive coffee brand.

“We called Gustos Coffee Co. for a meeting to see what coffee options they could offer at ChocoBar, since their references as a quality Puerto Rican coffee roasting plant and distributor were excellent,” said Rubén Rosario, director of sales at Chocolate Cortés.
