Metro Pavia Health System announced Thursday the start of its new $6.3 million growth and development plan for its medical facilities located in Puerto Rico’s north-central region with a groundbreaking ceremony for its future Metropolitan Office Building at the Hospital Metropolitano Dr. Susoni in Arecibo.

The new building is one of several projects the company has to expand and establish new infrastructure, services and medical technology for the three hospitals that make up its northern region: Hospital Dr. Cayetano Coll y Toste and Hospital Metropolitano Dr. Susoni, in Arecibo and Hospital Metropolitano de la Montaña in Utuado.

The plans will generate 50 jobs during the construction phase.

“With the construction of the Metropolitan Office Building and the integration of these three hospitals, we lay the framework for taking firm steps toward our goal of innovation, growth and development in the history of the quality of health services and medical care throughout the island,” said Karen Artau, president of Metro Pavia Health System.

As part of its strategy, the company has launched an ad campaign to let north-central region residents know that they need not travel to the San Juan metro area for their healthcare needs.
