Los hoteleros se unen tras el paso de Irene con tarifas especiales para los residentes locales.

Wyndham Garden Hotel & Casino at Palmas del Mar

Several hotel chains, including Empresas Santana and Hilton Hotels, launched Wednesday special offers for Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Island residents, starting at $99 a night at any of the participating properties.

Empresas Santana, which operates the Wyndham Garden Hotel & Casino at Palmas del Mar, Four Points by Sheraton Caguas Real Hotel & Casino and the Howard Johnson Hotel in Isla Verde, is offering the special rate to offer a “safe environment” to residents affected by Hurricane Irene.

We decided to give special rates to residents of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands in all of our inns, aware of the devastation left by Irene on its way through the Caribbean, especially in the eastern area of the island where our Wyndham Garden Hotel & Casino at Palmas del Mar is located,” said José A. Santana.

The hotelier said all of the properties are operating at “maximum capacity” and have water, power, telephone and high-speed Internet services.

Empresas Santana’s rate is valid through September 30, 2011, and includes a maximum of four people per room, including children.

“Likewise, we are offering special rates for government agencies that require accommodation for their crews. We understand that they are working hard to ensure that all services return to normal and we are very willing to provide them a place to stay,” Santana said.

Caribe Hilton Hotel

Meanwhile, late Tuesday, Caribe Hilton also extended a special rate starting at $99 at its flagship property in San Juan. Other rooms ranging in price from $109 to $399 a night are also available, the hotel said in a statement. The offer is valid through August 28, 2011 and do not include taxes. It is also good for two adults and two children.

All of the hotels are requiring proof of residency upon check-in.
