AON inaugurates $8M state-of-the-art call center in SJ
The five-story call center has created more than 600 new jobs.
Aon Hewitt, the global talent, retirement and health solutions business of Aon plc, inaugurated its new $8 million state-of-the-art employee benefits and human resources services call center facilities in San Juan.
The five-story call center has created more than 600 new jobs. The facility has a capacity of 985 seats, including 100 seats for training purposes, company executives said Thursday.
Aon Hewitt’s call center in San Juan serves more than 90 companies and their employees from the United States, Puerto Rico and Latin America, offering support across all aspects of employee benefits, including health plans, life insurance, disability insurance, money saving plans and pension plans.
With this expansion, the call center now has 900 full-time employees who handle an average of 200,000 calls per month.
“We chose to open our new call center in Puerto Rico for multiple reasons, including the ability to offer the service in Spanish and English as well as Puerto Rico’s culture, which is similar to other Hispanic cultures in the United States and all over the world,” said Eunice Aponte, managing director of Aon Hewitt in Puerto Rico.
“There is also a shorter learning curve and less training required to serve populations the U.S., since many of the benefits laws and foundations are similar,” she said.
Aponte also mentioned that the call center in Puerto Rico will be serving Portuguese-speaking clients and expand to Latin America countries in 2017.
