Infosys BPO opens in Aguadilla, creates 250 jobs
Gov. García-Padilla was on hand for Monday’s inauguration of Infosys BPO’s new Aguadilla operations.
Infosys BPO, the business process outsourcing subsidiary of Infosys, inaugurated its new operations center in Aguadilla on Monday, where it will generate 250 jobs. Present for the opening were high-ranking government officials.
For its new venture, Infosys BPO moved into a 12,000 square-foot facility, from where it will initially deliver complex order-to-cash business processes for clients in the aviation sector, who seem to be conglomerating in that northern municipality.
Infosys BPO is further expanding its footprint in the region to service clients in the federal/government sector, and the healthcare industry. Infosys BPO’s workforce of about 250 comprises mainly local residents who are U.S. citizens and engineers with experience and skills in the aerospace and aviation industries. The center will provide services in English and Spanish.
“The new center in Aguadilla is a promising regional hub for Infosys BPO. We envision it as a center of excellence for the aviation and aerospace industry,” said Anup Uppadhayay, CEO of Infosys BPO.
“Establishing this center also strengthens our resolve to continue delivering enhanced business value to our clients across multiple industries, including healthcare and the government sector,” he added.
Infosys BPO was founded in April 2002 and focuses on integrated end-to-end outsourcing and delivers transformational benefits to its clients through reduced costs, ongoing productivity improvements, and process reengineering.
It operates in India, Poland, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Ireland, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Costa Rica, the United States, Puerto Rico, China, the Philippines, Singapore, and Australia, and as of Dec. 31, 2014, employed 30,971 people worldwide.

Meanwhile, Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company Executive Director Antonio Medina-Comas described the progress of the Infosys BPO project — announced last year — as “outstanding.”
“We expect that this positive experience will enable additional business opportunities between Puerto Rico and Infosys BPO along with its clients,” he said.
