The Arecibo campus of the InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico recently opened its new, three-story, $4.5 million multi-purpose building to provide a place where students and faculty can gather to benefit from services and resources designed to help them further their academic and professional development, school officials said.

The $4.5 million was split between $1.3 million from the Title V program and $3.2 million in institutional funds. It was designed by architect Juan Moscoso and built by Villavicencio Construction.

“We’re confident that this project will positively impact student retention because their performance as a result of all academic aid will be improved. This new building projects the campus and the surrounding community to the site, the effort of an entire academic community that binds to optimize academic and student services, of which all will benefit,” said InterAmerican University President Manuel Fernós.
