Interphex looks to drive island’s knowledge economy
The Interphex exhibitors area draws hundreds of local medical device and pharmaceutical industry players.
Interphex Puerto Rico, the annual event that gathers key components of the island’s knowledge-based economy, will again offer an agenda full of conferences and training sessions Oct. 20-21 that focus on its mission to generate activity and help professionals move forward.
“Interphex Puerto Rico has a strong commitment to providing a world-class technical conference program to the island,” said Bob Stewart, Industry vice president. “We assemble a comprehensive selection of educational courses, robust lineup of faculty and speakers from around the world and solicit input from our conference advisory board to identify educational needs for the island – both immediate and for the future.”
Aside from its well-attended exhibit area, the event will include more than 40 accredited conferences and training sessions focused on guiding industry professionals on the island’s most critical issues for the full spectrum of life sciences manufacturing and facility management. New on this year’s agenda is a focus on “green” buildings to provide facility managers and other interested buyers from pharmaceutical plants access to resources that promote environmental and operational efficiencies.
Puerto Rico has one of the most active life science sectors in the United States, and awards more than 9,000 science, engineering and technical degrees each year.
Industry-leading experts will speak at the event, many for their first time, organizers said.

This year Interphex has also partnered with several groups to offer additional conference sessions, including ISPE Puerto Rico, PRTEC, Medical Device Summit, Environment Protection Agency, the Green Buildings Council’s U.S. Caribbean Chapter, and, for the second year in a row, the Latin American Supply Chain Expo.
“Interphex is currently one of the most recognized and distinguished events for professionals of the Puerto Rico’s pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and medical device industry,” said Vanessa Alvarado, human resources, training and organizational development senior manager for CooperVision. ”It provides the opportunity to interact at different professional levels with industry experts, while providing great forums to search for new technologies, services and other resources.”
