ISOCPR to host ‘Internet service delivery from the banking perspective’ forum
The Internet Society of Puerto Rico will sponsor its fourth forum of the year on Sept. 8, when executives from Banco Popular, FirstBank and Oriental Bank will discuss the topic of “Internet service delivery from the banking perspective.” The event will take place at Microsoft Corp.’s facilities at City View Plaza in Guaynabo, starting at 8 a.m.
The morning forum will bring together FirstBank’s Executive Vice President of Retail and Business Banking Ginoris López-Lay, BPPR’s Senior Vice President and Marketing Director Mariel Arraiza Antonmattei and Oriental Financial Group’s Senior Vice President of Commercial Banking Mari Evelyn Rodríguez, who will share their thoughts on the effect of digital media convergence on global and local Internet banking, trends in Internet banking, the increase of Internet services and products in a bank’s offerings, Internet banking vs. traditional banking, and the growth outlook for Internet banking in the short-, medium- and long-term.
Moderating the event will be Luis Rodríguez Báez, Marketing Strategy Group manager and vice president at Estudios Técnicos, and member of ISOCPR’s Board of Directors.
“Undoubtedly, in this day and age, the Internet plays a major role in the services banks provide and has a direct effect on a bank’s perceived level of customer service. At present, clients demand high levels of excellence in the services they receive via the Internet, which makes retention and acquisition an increasingly difficult and costly task for the banking industry,” said Archer Lebrón, chairman of the ISOCPR’s board. “In the past, Internet banking played a secondary or even tertiary role, whereas today it plays a primary role.”
