JetBlue, United partner to link loyalty programs, booking platforms

JetBlue and United announced a partnership to integrate loyalty programs and booking platforms.

JetBlue Airways and United Airlines have announced a partnership called “Blue Sky” to integrate their loyalty programs and booking platforms. The agreement will allow passengers to earn and redeem frequent flyer miles on both airlines and book flights on either carrier’s website or app.

JetBlue is Puerto Rico’s largest carrier, and United has a significant presence at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU, for its airport code).

Under the arrangement, United’s MileagePlus members can use miles on most JetBlue flights, while JetBlue’s TrueBlue members will have similar access to United’s domestic and international routes. Passengers with preferred status will also receive seat upgrades and flight change benefits on both airlines.

The agreement includes JetBlue providing United with access to slots at New York’s JFK Airport for up to seven daily round-trip flights starting in 2027. The airlines will also exchange eight flight timings at Newark Airport to increase JetBlue’s operations there. United plans to use JetBlue’s Paisly platform for certain travel services such as hotel bookings and car rentals.

“This collaboration with United is a bold step forward that brings together two customer-focused airlines to deliver more choices for travelers and value across our networks,” said Joanna Geraghty, CEO of JetBlue.

United CEO Scott Kirby said, “We’re always looking for ways to give our MileagePlus members even more value and benefits, and this collaboration gives them new, unique ways to use their hard-earned miles and find options that fit their schedule.”

The partnership is structured as an interline agreement, not a merger or codeshare, and both airlines will continue to operate independently. Some parts of the agreement could begin as early as this fall, pending regulatory approval.
