The former Lafayette Hospital in Arroyo is now part of the San Lucas Episcopal Health System.

Effective Wednesday and following a $2 million investment, the healthcare facility known as the Lafayette Hospital in Arroyo became part of the San Lucas Episcopal Health System and will begin operating under a new name: the San Lucas Arroyo Emergency and Integrated Medicine Center.

Under this new concept, the institution will be offering 24/7 Emergency Room service, along with a range of ancillary services such as Outpatient Imaging Center where patients can receive conventional radiology services, sonograms, mammograms and CT scans. Clinical laboratory and services such as vaccination and health certificates will also be offered.

San Lucas Episcopal Health System is a ministry of the Puerto Rican Episcopal Church and includes hospitals in Ponce and Guayama, as well as the Home Health and the San Lucas Hospice Program

“The best health team has reached Arroyo to provide people of the island’s southeast region with the excellence in service, treatment and care that characterizes us and that we offer under the protection of the mission and values of the Puerto Rican Episcopal Church,” said Elyonel Pontón, director of San Lucas Arroyo.

Looking ahead, the healthcare system will be integrating other services to complement those already available, said CEO Julio Colón.
