Seaborne Airlines launches San Juan/Nevis connection

With the addition of a new air connection between the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan and Nevis, to be operated by Seaborne Airlines, tourism executives from the neighboring island touted Tuesday the benefits they offer Puerto Rican visitors.

An hour away by air, Nevis offers a portfolio of hotel properties to choose from, a long list of activities — from sports to gastronomy — and pristine beaches, Nevis Tourism Authority CEO Greg B. Phillip said.

“Our Puerto Rican neighbors are a priority to us, we want you to come and visit us, let us treat you as well as you treat us when we come here, experience everything Nevis has to offer. In 2015 we are presenting an exciting list of events, which includes sporting, gastronomical, cultural and musical activities,” said Phillip.

“We have something for everyone. This whole team here with me today works hard everyday to offer diverse options, at the best prices, that suits every visitor’s needs and desires,” he said during a news conference Tuesday, along with executives from Nevis’ hotel, airline and travel agency industries.

During the meeting with the media, Seabourne Airlines’ Regional Marketing Manager, Héctor Montañez, announced its new $149 one-way fare between Nevis and San Juan. This new fare complements the other daily commercial flights as well as charters, from carriers that include Cape Air, Tradewind Aviation, and Air Sunshine.

Nevis has just over 400 hotel rooms and many of the hotels have rates specifically for Puerto Rican residents, Phillip said

“It is just one way the island is rolling out the welcome mat for Puerto Ricans to visit,” he added.
