MasterCard grants shopping trip to 3 Make-A-Wish patients

MasterCard and Make-A-Wish executives celebrate the special shopping spree granted to three patients served by the latter organization.

As part of the recently celebrated Priceless Night at Plaza Las Américas, MasterCard joined the Make-A-Wish Puerto Rico Foundation to fulfill the wants of three ill youngsters who had dreamed of a day of shopping at the Hato Rey mall.

And last week, the three —  Yareliz, 14, from Quebradillas, María del Carmen, 12, from Ponce and Roberto, 15, from Guaynabo — got their wish as they were treated to an evening of retail therapy along with their families, MasterCard said.

“The true meaning of Christmas is to give joy and create unique moments for rekindling hope. When it comes to children who on a daily basis overcome health challenges, it takes on a deeper meaning, so as part of our Priceless event at Plaza we joined this effort to bring happiness to these three young people,” said Manuel Catedral, general manager of MasterCard Puerto Rico.

The company did not disclose what the kids bought, but did suggest that Yareliz was able to get the laptop she had been wanting.

Ivonne Bernard, of Make-A-Wish Puerto Rico said, “MasterCard’s support is unique, as is its philosophy of creating memorable moments. Thanks to their support we were able to fulfill the wishes of these three young kids, who coincided in their request to come with their families for a day of shopping. Today everything is joy because we live the true meaning of Christmas.”
