Mayagüez to host 3rd edition of Green Energy Business Conference

The town of Mayagüez will host this Friday an event to generate awareness and educate on solar energy and energy efficiency. The “Green Energy Business Conference – The Solar Challenge” conference will gather academics, green energy industry professionals and businesspeople interested in developing renewable energy and energy conservation projects in their facilities.
The tourism, hospitality, and agriculture industries, as well as the cooperative sector, colleges, and universities are some of the sectors that have received federal and local funding to develop renewable energy and energy conservation projects in the West, one of the areas with more development of these types of projects on the island.
Energy Affairs Administration Interim Executive Director Juan Carlos Díaz-Galarza said educational opportunities like this forum are scarce, inviting top executives from businesses and organizations in the area to attend.
“We continue educating businesspeople and the general public about the advantages, financing alternatives, and incentives for green energy projects. Energy conservation and renewable energy are a real option for our people, and the results are there to prove it,” said Díaz-Galarza. “Businesses and organizations throughout the island have been able to reduce their energy costs, strengthen their operations, expand, and even generate their own energy.”
During the forum, green energy industry professionals will discuss project challenges, business viability, financing alternatives, federal and state government incentives available, permit process, technologies, and net metering.
