MMM gets national re-accreditation for quality services

Orlando González

MMM Healthcare, LLC received the National Committee for Quality Assurance accreditation for the third consecutive time, reaffirming its commitment to developing and implementing initiatives aimed at promoting quality in services their members receive, the company announced Wednesday.

The accreditation is granted for the level of service and clinical quality that meets the basic requirements established by the rigorous NCQA standards. These standards seek to encourage organizations to achieve the highest possible levels of performance, ensure patient safety, and promote a continuous improvement environment.

According to the NCQA criteria, obtaining quality accreditation in health care refers to patients receiving appropriate care, to the appropriate extent, in a timely manner. That is, they have access to their care on time, they receive the correct treatment and the preventive care they need.

This accreditation is of greater relevance to patients, since by selecting a plan and high-quality doctors, they are expected to be assured that they will receive better care.

“By revalidating our NCQA accreditation we reaffirm our commitment to the people we serve, their families, their caregivers, and health professionals who work hand-in-hand with us to ensure our members have access to the right services to improve or keep their health in control,” said Orlando González, president of MMM.

“Health care models are constantly evolving and it is our goal to keep on leading that evolution in Puerto Rico. We have been able to establish advanced processes and integrate efforts with health care providers, along with their administrative staff, to manage and establish the patient not only as someone who receives a service, but as someone who actively participates in their care,” he said.

“This re-accreditation is not only an achievement for MMM but an achievement for the health industry in Puerto Rico,” González added.

NCQA evaluates how well the plan handles all components of its system — from doctors, hospitals, other providers and administrative services — to improve the quality of care and services their members receive to meet their needs.
