The Casa Norberto Libros & Cafébar bookstore will open its doors April 28 at the busy Plaza Las Américas shopping center in Hato Rey, company officials announced Thursday.

The 5,683 square-foot space will house a wide range of books in Spanish and English, children’s books, a coffee bar and a cultural activities area. The bookstore will create 18 jobs.

Bookseller and entrepreneur Norberto González is the founder of the establishment, which seeks to boost the book industry through an accessible space for readers that fosters the cultural habit of reading.

“After months of hard work, both in the construction and acquisition of the inventory we will offer our customers, we are pleased to announce that we will open our library to the public in a month,” said González.

“In the process, we added space to make the library was more comfortable and attractive to customers and added technology components that allow events and cultural activities to be seen throughout the store and transmitted efficiently through radio or digital television,” said González.

In the book section will include titles in multiple categories, including bestsellers, fiction, nonfiction, history, philosophy, cooking, art, politics, metaphysics and spirituality, psychology, and self-help, among others.

The children’s section offers a variety for all reading levels in Spanish and English, books in large format and a program of activities during the weekends. The coffee bar, meanwhile, will offer hot and cold drinks, pastries and light meals.

The bookstore will operate on schedule mall, Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
