OneLink Communications is three weeks away from introducing a significantly revamped television lineup, faster Internet speeds, and adjusted rates for its services offered in the San Juan metropolitan area, as outlined in an extensive notice mailed to its customer over the past few days.

Effective Aug. 19, OneLink will expand and improve television programming, specifically with regard to its “Español de Primera” Spanish-language lineup, expanded basic and digital plus tiers. The company will also add more high-definition channels.

The expanded basic service will be renamed “Ultimate” and will feature a 90+channel lineup, while the Digital Plus tier will be renamed “Ultimate Plus,” and will also feature new channels and more HD options.

OneLink will also introduce a realigned channel lineup for all service levels effective Sept. 5, grouping them based on the type of programming they offer. The reshuffling will add new channels to each of the tiers. Furthermore, according to the new channel guide, OneLink will no longer start its lineup at “800,” returning to the traditional way of accessing channels based on single, double, or triple-digit options starting at “1,” which in this case will be the “On-Demand” channel.

As far as pricing is concerned, OneLink will offer individual services and “triple-play” packages that — in some cases — will be cheaper than what is currently charged.

Triple-play packages will range from $59.99 to $119.99 a month, with different tiers of television, broadband — from 10 to 40 megas — and telephone plans included. According to the company, customers will experience savings of between $52 and $66 in savings when signing up to all three OneLink services.

But if a customer wants to sign up to cable alone, they will pay $15 a month for broadcast service that includes local and shopping channels, ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC, local radio stations, the interactive guide, access to pay-per-view (PPV) and video-on-demand (VOD). For another $19.99 a month, customers can add 28 channels in Spanish.

The “Ultimate Service” tier will cost $46.99 a month for the aforementioned lineups, plus 50 music channels and access to 34 PPV channels and VOD. The “Ultimate Plus” tier carries an additional $14.99 monthly rate, and adds more than 40 additional general entertainment channels that include HD viewing.

Depending on the service, customers will be required to pay monthly rental fees for equipment — such as HD converters, DVR converters and multi-room equipment.

The sweeping changes come less than a year after Liberty Puerto Rico closed its $585 million acquisition of the San Juan cable system. Since then, the company has been upgrading the network and introducing new pricing and offers, specifically related to Internet and telephony.
