Local multidisciplinary company Pharma Consulting Corp. is marking its 13th anniversary by strengthening its services in Puerto Rico, as well as its footprint in the Central and Latin American regions, company President Charil Pabón said Monday.

PCC is a Puerto Rican firm that offers professional validation processes and equipment for pharmaceutical companies, the microbiologist said.

“Our main task is to ensure that our customers regulated by the Food and Drug Administration, do not incur in irregularities that may damage the quality of pharmaceutical products marketed inside and outside our island,” said Pabón, the only woman founder and leader of a company dedicated to validation and installation of laboratory furniture that meets FDA requirements in Puerto Rico.

The company generates 10 direct and 30 indirect jobs, and offers services in the areas of engineering, manufacturing, services, processes and laboratories.

“Although our company is celebrating its 13 anniversary, the professionals that we recruit have an average of 45 years of experience in various branches of this complex industry. That has been a key part of our growth and expansion,” she said.

Currently, PCC has partnerships with two large multinational installation services companies — VWR International and Thermo Fisher Scientific — which have made it possible to complete installation projects in Costa Rica and other Central American countries, she said.

In Puerto Rico, one of PCC’s most important projects is the installation of the laboratories in the Comprehensive Cancer Center, slated to open by year’s end. VWR International hired PCC for this job, she said.

PCC has two service divisions — validation processes and equipment, and design, installation and project management of laboratory furniture — and has in its roster of clients the University of Puerto Rico, the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, Central University of the Caribbean, and the UPR’s Molecular Sciences Building.

“The work we do is very important in this industry. We scientifically certify processes and equipment so that they comply with federal regulations,” said Pabón.
