Banco Popular has integrated its mobile services to the Apple Watch.

Just a month after the launch of its native application for iPad, Banco Popular announced Tuesday the integration of a new feature that allows customers to check balances and locate branches and ATMs through the Apple Watch, becoming the first financial institution in Puerto Rico to make that function available.

Upon announcing the new app, bank officials said 60 percent of visits to its “Mi Banco Online” platform are done through mobile devices, representing 7.2 million monthly visits.

“The integration of ‘Mi Banco Móvil’ in the Apple Watch means accessibility and convenience for the more than 525,000 customers already using ‘Mi Banco Online’,” said Camille Burckhart, first vice president of Popular’s technology division.

“As we have shown with the rest of our services and products, the purpose of these efforts is to provide our customers with tools to facilitate the banking process and tailor services to new channels and devices,” she said.

To use the Popular application on the Apple Watch, the user must only pair the device with their iPhone and will be able to see information about their balances in real time or use the branches and ATMs locator.

Aside from integrating the mobile application to the Apple Watch, Popular also adapted its mobile application to the quick balances feature for Android and iPhone devices.
