MED Week event presents prospects for local businesses

This forum will provide local companies with the chance to receive first-hand information on procurement resources available on the island and allow them to network.

The Puerto Rico MBDA Business Center, run by the Puerto Rico Products Association, will sponsor an event on Feb. 2 to spur business growth opportunities for local companies.

The “MED Week” event summit to be held at the Condado Plaza Hilton, will offer various lectures and panels aimed at raising awareness among entrepreneurs of the opportunities available to companies certificated to do business with the federal government and multinationals.

Information on federal resources targeted for export, among other topics of business interest, will also be offered.

There will also be a matchmaking event with federal procurement officers and buyers for multinationals so that local entrepreneurs can introduce their products and services and have other options to do business.

“We started the year by identifying a number of resources for our entrepreneurs to receive the necessary tools and know-how to meet the business challenges that will be presented this year,” said Teresa Berríos, director of PRMBDA.

MED Week will feature the participation of panelists including: Mariana Pardo, from the Small Business Administration; Paula Miller, of the General Services Administration; Benjamín Rosa, from Johnson & Johnson; María Otero, of the U.S. Army MICC; Orestes Hubbard, of the MBDA Export Program; and David LeBoeuf, of the Urban Business Initiative, among others.

Registration and conferences will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The event includes breakfast and lunch and carries a cost of $125 per person. For more information, call 787-753-8484 or email [email protected].
