Puerto Rican-grown Congressional Reserve Blend debuts at US Capitol

The official launch took place July 15 at the Rayburn House Office Building, featuring a Puerto Rican cultural experience with a mini agricultural market, tasting station and the debut of the exclusive new coffee.

For the first time, coffee grown and produced entirely in Puerto Rico will be served in the U.S. House of Representatives. The new “Congressional Reserve Blend,” grown in Las Marías by Panorama Farm, was unveiled July 15 at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C.

The blend is the creation of Puerto Rican entrepreneur Angelique Sina, who acquired Panorama Farm in 2021 after returning to the island following 12 years in Washington.

“This project aims to return to the essentials: working the land, creating purposeful businesses and planting seeds for the future,” Sina said.

The launch event, hosted by Resident Commissioner Pablo José Hernández, featured a mini agricultural market and a tasting station with Puerto Rican products. Sina gave keynote remarks and joined a panel of agricultural leaders to discuss farming’s role in Puerto Rico’s economic future.

Sina said the initiative also supports education through her nonprofit organization, Friends of Puerto Rico. “We believe businesses can be a force for good. In our case, 100% of the net profits from coffee sales are reinvested in educational programs through Friends of Puerto Rico,” she said.

The Congressional Reserve Blend is made with a custom arabica “limaní” formula developed exclusively for use in the U.S. Congress.

“This coffee represents years of effort and a strategic commitment to positioning Puerto Rico in key spaces through the quality of our product,” Sina said.
