Puerto Rico gov’t to host ‘Going Global’ export event

The Coca-Cola Music Hall in San Juan

Puerto Rico’s Department of Economic Development and Commerce (DDEC, in Spanish) will host the “Puerto Rico Going Global” event on Aug. 28 at the Coca-Cola Music Hall in San Juan, aiming to support new and established exporters seeking to expand into markets abroad.

The daylong event, themed “Connect, Grow and Export,” will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is free of charge, although space is limited. The initiative is part of Gov. Jenniffer González-Colón’s broader strategy to position Puerto Rico as a global export hub.

“This event is designed for anyone interested in exporting to the U.S. or international markets, as well as businesses looking to expand their existing exports,” said DDEC Secretary Sebastián Negrón-Reichard. “We encourage current and future exporters to register early and take advantage of this opportunity.”

Speaking during the government’s “En Récord” press conference, Negrón-Reichard said the event will feature programming for entrepreneurs at various stages, including sessions for women-led businesses, young entrepreneurs and startups with international potential.

“We want our companies to compete in new markets, no matter their size or stage of development,” he said. “The goal is to ensure they are qualified, determined and prepared to succeed.”

The event will include training workshops, keynote presentations, expert panels and networking opportunities tailored to Puerto Rico’s business community.

“We invite all entrepreneurs with a global vision to join us and take the next step toward expanding their reach,” Negrón-Reichard added.
