The new 2014 Fiesta, Ford’s best-selling car on the island, had an increase in sales of 70 percent over August 2012, the company said.

Ford Motor Company’s sales in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands increased in August by 4 percent over last year, led by a successful launch of the new Ford Fiesta, the automaker said recently.

Ford sold a total of 869 vehicles to reach its second-best month of 2013 and to continue strengthening its leadership among American brands in the local market. The recently introduced Fiesta was accountable for the push in sales, with 226 units of the subcompact car sold, representing an increase of 70 percent over August 2012.

“At Ford Motor Company we work directly with our dealers and business partners to offer our clients the best possible offers in the market,” said Noelle de la Rosa, operations manager for Ford in Puerto Rico.

“Puerto Rican drivers find in our brand the cars, SUVs and trucks suited to their needs, because we produce quality vehicles, designed to be safe, fuel efficient and highly technological,” she said, adding that the new 2014 Ford Fiesta is a “perfect combination of pure joy and efficiency.”

The Fiesta was not the only Ford vehicle to have a good month, joined by the Explorer SUV, which sold 689 units in the first eight months of the year, representing an increase of 55 percent in sales, in comparison to the same period last year.
