Puerto Rican natural product company Vita Natura announced Tuesday an expansion plan that includes opening three new stores in Puerto Rico and two in stateside later this year.

Company President Frank Medina offered details of the chain’s upcoming growth plans during the opening of one of the new local stores, on Roosevelt Avenue in Guaynabo. Another location will open next week in Humacao, pushing the number of total establishments to 17.

The third of the new stores is expected to open during the summer in Mayagüez, while Vita Natura stores will open in Orlando and New York by year’s end. Each store entails an $85,000 investment, company officials confirmed.

“I am an optimistic entrepreneur. During the recession I have continued with the development and growth of the company, I continue generating jobs and continue innovating to provide the public with quality products that support their physical and emotional wellbeing and represent value for money,” said Medina, during a press conference attended by industry executives and government officials, including Secretary of State David Bernier.

Vita Natura opened its first store in 2004 and nine years later, has become a solid chain, with a leadership position in the local market.

On the company’s expansion plans abroad, Medina said: “entrepreneurs should have vision and adapt to the times. In times of crisis opportunities also arise, and we must identify them and take advantage of them. That has been key to my success.”

The Vita Natura chain employs 60 people at its Puerto Rico locations.
