Puerto Rico Products Association in growth curve

PRPA President Manuel Cidre

Describing it as an “unprecedented initiation” for the organization, the Puerto Rico Products Association last week enrolled nearly 90 new member companies into the nonprofit whose mission is to promote and support the consumption of local products and services.

“We’re extremely excited about the arrival of these companies. This strengthens our organization and its mission to support local goods and services,” said José “Tito” Colls, vice president of manufacturing and chairmain of the membership committee.

“It had been a while since an initiation had taken place, and the fact that so many companies come together is proof of the commitment of local employers with our mission,” he said.

Among the service companies that joined the PRPA are in banking, retail, accounting and advertising. While in the area of manufacturing companies that produce candy, fragrances and food, among others also enrolled.

“This jam-packed initiation is a public call that we must strengthen and support the consumption of products and services made in Puerto Rico,” said PRPA President Manuel Cidre. “We have to recognize once and for all, beyond political ideologies, that the future is not out, the future is made in Puerto Rico.”

The PRPA aims to continue expanding the institution’s growth to strengthen its support of local producers. The goal is to have 500 members or more, Cidre said.
