Purpose in Motion: Optum Puerto Rico Unite for wellness and community support
On July 26, Optum Puerto Rico hosted “Opt to Move: Hope to Ride 2025” at the Paseo Lineal in Bayamón as part of a global UnitedHealthcare initiative that transforms volunteer time into funding for community causes.
Colleagues, friends and partners joined the company-led ride, logging hours that Optum converted into a corporate donation benefiting the Pediatric Hospital Foundation.
“This is the kind of initiative that reminds us why Optum Puerto Rico and UnitedHealthcare are dedicated to help people live healthier lives,” said Claudia Ramírez, site lead for Optum Puerto Rico.
“Hope to Ride turns our time and energy into tangible help for families here at home. I’m incredibly proud of our team’s participation and deeply grateful that, together, we could contribute to such an important cause,” she said.
“Opt to Move: Hope to Ride” is more than a one-day event — it’s a model for how employer-supported volunteering can accelerate community impact. When organizations make it easy for teams to show up together, barriers fall, participation rises and local nonprofits feel the effect faster.
In Puerto Rico, that approach channels resources to where they’re most needed while strengthening the connection between companies and the neighborhoods they serve.
“This event proved that when we move with a purpose, everyone benefits,” Ramírez added. “I’m thankful for every employee, family member and partner who joined us. We’re proud to be part of an initiative that not only promotes health and well-being but also directs real support to children and families.”
