Sagrado inaugura nueva Escuela de Negocios en Santurce
Universidad del Sagrado Corazon (Sacred Heart University) has inaugurated its new School of Business, a $1 million initiative that the institution says is designed to prepare a new generation of ethical, entrepreneurial and socially responsible business leaders in Puerto Rico.
Located on the university’s Santurce campus, the facility features modern conference rooms, collaborative workspaces, digital information displays and innovation areas that simulate real business environments.
University President Gilberto J. Marxuach-Torrós said the project seeks to strengthen collaboration between academia and the private sector.
“We aspire to be the School of Business for Puerto Rico’s businesses. Our goal is to co-educate alongside the business sector, allowing students to learn in real-world settings,” he said.
The new school builds on the university’s legacy in business education, which dates to the 1970s. It is part of the university’s Sagrado 2030 strategic plan and its broader curricular transformation centered on service-learning.
Anuchka Ramos-Ruiz, provost and vice president of academic and student affairs, said the new structure emphasizes the human and ethical dimensions of business education.
“Teaching and learning gain true meaning when placed in service to others,” she said.
The School of Business introduces a bilingual bachelor’s degree in business analysis and new minors in finance, sustainable development and public accounting. Students will also have access to internships, international study programs and accelerated graduate pathways.
The Francisco Carvajal Foundation and Banco Popular de Puerto Rico supported the project through funding and scholarship programs, including the planned creation of the Popular Financial Markets Lab in a future development phase.
