El Mesón Sandwiches to open 2 stores at LMM airport
El Mesón Sandwiches will open two new restaurants at the busy Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport.
El Mesón Sandwiches will open two stores at the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in Carolina, through an investment of $1.6 million and a partnership with Management Group Investors, the companies announced Wednesday.
The partnership MGI opens the door for possible openings of El Mesón locations in the Dominican Republic, executives said.
“With this partnership, MGI increases the supply of fresh produce and 100 percent Puerto Rican brands at the LMM airport, opening up a world of possibilities for exporting them to the Dominican Republic,” said Jose Algarín-Pabon, president of MGI
MGI has operations in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic with a combined employee-base of 1,100 across the airports in Isla Verde, Santo Domingo, Puerto Plata and Samaná. The company operates 15 food and beverage concessions in and out of airports in the Dominican Republic and plans to pursue an aggressive expansion starting in 2017, executives said.
Meanwhile, Felipe Pérez-Grajales, president of El Meson Sandwiches, was proud to continue the growth of the popular Puerto Rican chain.
“We decided to implement this alliance at a time when leading Puerto Rican companies need to come together to improve our proposal and competitiveness so that we can be relevant both in our island and abroad,” said Felipe Pérez-Grajales, president of El Mesón, which will generate some 60 new jobs at the new locations at the LMM airport.
With more than 2,000 employees, El Mesón Sandwiches has 36 restaurants on the island and three in the United States. In 2017, they seek to add three new stores in Puerto Rico and three more in Florida, for a total of 45.
