Banco Santander bestows Solidarity Award in Education
The award was bestowed during a recent panel discussion on “Experiences in Solidarity for Peace Education.”
Banco Santander Puerto Rico, through its community reinvestment division, recently granted the Casa Juan Bosco in Aguadilla the Santander Solidarity Award in Education.
Casa Juan Bosco is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to prevent, through a value proposition, the crime rate in children living in Aguadilla’s high-risk and poor sectors. They offer school tutoring services, sports, and cultural and artistic activities to prevent school dropout, vices and violence. In this way, they create an atmosphere of responsibility and solidarity with young people and the community.
For 18 years, the organization has provided alternatives, tools and solutions for education, leading to radical changes and equal opportunities. Casa Juan Bosco molds a scale of values and character suitable for a more cohesive, committed, generous and altruistic society.
Through a partnership between Banco Santander Puerto Rico and the Miranda Foundation, the award is granted annually to an educational organization that offers non-traditional education services to the community.
