SBA, Science & Tech Trust ally on research, innovation

The U.S. Small Business Administration and the Puerto Rico Science, Technology and Research Trust (PRSTRT) have entered a strategic alliance to help foster small businesses working in research and innovation on the island.
“Through this strategic alliance with PRSTRT we strengthen our network of local collaborators to support research and development efforts that lead to innovation,” said SBA District Director Yvette T. Collazo. “In today’s economic environment, it is paramount that we provide small businesses with the tools and resources they need to continue evolving and achieve success.”
As part of the strategic alliance, the SBA and PRSTRT will keep each other informed of programs and services available to small businesses, join in training and outreach activities, and work to expand knowledge of and access to small business resources and technical assistance. The alliance will remain in effect for a period of two years.
Currently, the SBA holds alliances with Puerto Rico Trade and Export Company, University of Puerto Rico in Carolina, Puerto Rico Tourism Company, the municipalities of Coamo, Cayey and Peñuelas, Universidad del Turabo, Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, Technology Initiative of the Northeast (known as INTENE for its initials in Spanish), Desarrollo Integral del Sur Inc., PathStone, Women’s Business Development Council, and Universidad del Este.
