Seaborne Airlines announces new LMM-Tortola flights
Seaborne is expanding its business out of LMM airport.
Less than a month after announcing plans to expand its fleet of aircraft, investing more than $7 million in three new planes, regional carrier Seaborne Airlines confirmed Tuesday plans to launch twice-daily flights from the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport to Tortola’s Terrence B. Lettsome International Airport
The new service will start Oct. 1 and flights are already available for booking, Seaborne CEO Omer ErSelcuk said, adding the airline will use its Havilland DHC-6-300 aircraft to fly the round-trip route.
At LMM, Tortola customers will have access to a premium lounge — complete with seating, work areas, charging stations, refreshments, WIFI access, and Direct TV — as well as a concierge desk to assist with services such as new reservations, flight changes, late check-in, among other courtesies.
Additionally, Seaborne corporate customers have access to FasTrak LMM security access, which allows travelers to go to the head of the security line.
Future expansion
Beginning in the first quarter of 2013, service in Tortola will be upgraded to Saab 340B equipment offering 34 seats per departure and improved travel times, as News is my Business reported.
The Saab 340B will also be deployed on existing routes to St. Croix, St. Thomas, and the Puerto Rico island municipality of Vieques. Furthermore, Seaborne plans to significantly increase service in 2013 with more than 5,000 additional seats planned for flights between LMM and St. Croix, St. Thomas, Tortola, and Vieques.
