Hybrid Services joins ‘green’ stateside dealer network

Hybrid Services, a hybrid auto care facility in Puerto Rico, announced Thursday it has joined Virginia-based The Hybrid Shop (THS), a growing international network of dealers committed to providing expert care for hybrid-electric vehicles (HEVs), as a dealer partner.
Founded in 1979, Hybrid Services is a family-owned and operated auto repair and maintenance facility located in the Las Lomas sector of San Juan. After noticing a dramatic increase in hybrid cars on the road in 2012, Hybrid Services became a specialized shop, exclusively serving hybrid vehicles.
“Our customers love their hybrids and the green appeal, but they know that the repairs and maintenance can be quite costly,” Hybrid Services’ owner Xavier Soto said. “We are extremely excited about becoming a THS Dealer Partner and that through these services we can continue our mission to deliver our customers with options that deliver the best of all worlds: an environmentally friendly and cost-saving solution that improves and extends the life of their hybrid vehicle.”
An underperforming hybrid battery can result in decreased fuel economy and torque, leading to significant battery replacement costs, amounting to as much as $4,000-$9,000.
Through its partnership and training with THS, Hybrid Services now offers hybrid Battery Pack Conditioning, a green service that restores up to 95 percent of the battery pack’s original power and energy, while driving significant increased fuel economy over the vehicle’s lifetime. The ability to restore, as opposed to replace, the batteries is a critical element in the environmental sustainability of these services.
