SIF policy payment deadline looming, agency now accepting American Express

Island employers have a week left before the July 20 deadline to file their payroll information and pay their workers’ insurance policy at the State Insurance Commissioner, agency administrator Zoimé Álvarez said Wednesday.
This government-mandated insurance gives employers immunity in case a worker has an accident while on the job. This year’s SIF policy retains the 20.7 percent discount put into effect last year, she noted.
Employees have a number of options to make their payments, but this year, the agency is placing special emphasis on online payments, through http://www.cfse.gov.pr.
Earlier this week, the agency announced an agreement with American Express that allows local cardholders to use that method to make their payments starting this year.
Ulises Solis, director of establishment services at American Express for Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, said: “This new service with the SIF is part of American Express’s commitment to offer more benefits and options for the convenience of its members.”
The SIF now joins a handful of other public agencies — the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority, the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority, the Municipal Revenue Collections Center and AutoExpreso — accepting the card as a method of payment
“We are very proud to welcome American Express, for the first time in the SIF’s history. This is an example of our in-depth transformation, through which we’re offering payment options that are more convenient and flexible, thus improving our performance,” Álvarez said.
