St. Regis Bahía Beach in Río Grande lands ‘AAA 5-Diamond’ rating

The St. Regis Bahía Beach Resort is the only property in Puerto Rico to presently hold the distinction.

The St. Regis Bahía Beach Resort in Río Grande announced Wednesday that the beachfront property has earned AAA’s Five Diamond Rating, joining five other hotels that have landed the prestigious accolade in the Caribbean since 2011.

The St. Regis Bahía Beach Resort is the only property in Puerto Rico to presently hold the distinction.

“On behalf of The St. Regis Bahía Beach Resort, we are incredibly pleased and honored that the property has been rewarded with AAA’s most esteemed honor of the Five Diamond Rating,” General Manager Terry Bechtold said.

“The coveted designation supports the position as the resort as the leader in luxury hospitality in the Caribbean, a reputation which serves as the result of the resort’s exceptional amenities, stunning natural surroundings, and bespoke service which we provide our guests within the ultimate island escape,” he said.

The Five Diamond Rating is received less than two years after The St. Regis Bahía Beach Resort’s opening in November 2010, and reflects the resort’s personalized service and level of luxury in Puerto Rico.

As the AAA Diamond Rating Process is one of North America’s premier hotel rating programs, properties selected for evaluation must meet 27 essential requirements based on member expectations including cleanliness, comfort, security, and safety, before being assigned a rating of one to five AAA Diamonds.

Fewer than one-half percent of more than 31,000 properties recognized by AAA throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean are approved by the organization to get the rating.

Properties with the Five Diamond Rating reflect the ultimate in luxury and sophistication, which The St. Regis Bahía Beach Resort continuously demonstrates with its unparalleled offerings,” hotel executives said.

The specific rating at this level requires that first class accommodations, outstanding physical property attributes, and high service and excellence standards.

The St. Regis hotel property in Río Grande is the chain’s first Caribbean resort and sits on 483 acres, and is nestled between the El Yunque National Forest and the Espiritu Santo River.
