Puerto Rico government officials announced Thursday the availability of the “Virtual Enterprise Management” business page located in the PR.gov website that will initially allow the business sector to enroll in the Registry of Corporations, the and the Department of Labor and Human Resources online records.

The page is the result of the Strategic Citizen Services Network initiative, a product of Executive Order 2015-23 of July 2015 on Government Reorganization and Efficiency, that called for making it possible for entrepreneurs to create and start doing business in Puerto Rico in a much faster way.

Upon completing all of the project’s phases, Puerto Rico aims to allow a legal entity to start doing business through a single electronic procedure for registration and certifications needed from the different government agencies: the State Department, the Treasury Department, the Department of Labor and Human Resources, the State Insurance Fund, and in some cases, the General Services Administration and the General Permit Office, as well as a municipal license in the town where they will do business.

The first phase of the online initiative includes eight services: government procurement process, virtual corporate management, requests for eligibility prequalification for federal assistance program, Medicaid benefits, Section 8 and public housing, and unemployment benefits applications. Online driver’s license renewals are pending legislative approval.
