T-Mobile launches HTC Wildfire, announces support to “Race for the Cure”

T-Mobile Spokeswoman, Frances Rodríguez, discusses details of the company's participation in this year's Race for the Cure event.

T-Mobile, the island’s third-largest wireless carrier, announced its support for the third year in a row, to the efforts in benefit of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s Puerto Rico chapter. The company will again sponsor the Susan G. Komen “Race for the Cure” 5K event, to take place Oct. 9.

Coupled with its announced support, the carrier introduced to market the HTC Wildfire, vowing to donate $10 to the nonprofit for every unit sold, up to $25,000.

“We’re very proud to be able to participate once again and collaborate with a cause that touches so many so closely,” said Frances Rodríguez, public relations manager for T-Mobile Puerto Rico, during a recent news conference. “The HTC Wildfire, a stylish and compact device that runs on the Android platform, is made with simplicity in mind. It joins our broad Android and 4G device portfolio.”

The eight-week campaign is part of a series of efforts that T-Mobile will conduct leading up to the race. The carrier will distribute 5K race subscription forms at its T-Mobile stores, actively participate in promoting the event, as well as urge massive participation of its employees and their families, and the general public who will advice on the importance of early detection.

Packaged in a stylish form-factor, including a 3.2-inch capacitive touch screen display, the HTC Wildfire S is perfect for browsing the Web, accessing turn-by-turn navigation, sending and receiving emails, and keeping up with family and friends via Facebook and Twitter. The new low-cost smartphone also offers essential smartphone features such as a 5-megapixel camera and video recorder and a virtual QWERTY keyboard with Swype for easy text input.
