T-Mobile USA employees gather in SJ for incentive trip

Local T-Mobile employees welcomed their stateside counterparts to the beat of typical island music.

Some 500 T-Mobile employees and an additional 800 companions visited Puerto Rico recently as part of the sales and service incentive trip the wireless carrier offers its nationwide staff. This is the first time the incentive trip brings company employees to the island after being held in cities such as Las Vegas, New York and Miami.

The visit has generated more than 1,500 room-nights at several San Juan area hotels, aside from the additional economic activity associated with transportation, events held at the hotels and various spots throughout the island, as well as excursions that will take place through the end of this week, company officials said.

The company incentive trip to Puerto Rico “reaffirms the company’s commitment to the market,” executives said, noting that as recently as last week T-Mobile announced plans to invest $4 billion to upgrade its existing 4G HSPA+ network and deploy Long-Term Evolution (LTE) technology in 2013.

This will allow T-Mobile to take full advantage of the advances in technology infrastructure, as well as benefit and continue to meet the growing demand for data and quality 4G experiences.

During the weekend gathering, T-Mobile honored several local sales representatives — Josué Torres, southeast district manager; Marta Cardona, sales representative, Plaza Isabela; Mario Medero, customer service representative, Rexville Plaza; Yvonne Pagán, sales manager, Plaza Carolina; Javier Pacheco, manager of retail services, Plaza Las Américas; and Julio Abut, independent channels account manager.
