For the 19th consecutive year, Toyota Foundation is accepting applications for its “Environmental Donations Program,” which provides funding to nonprofit entities that submit proposals aimed at environmental conservation.

Projects should focus on initiatives that have an environmental impact or ideas that provide support to different organizations that center on preserving the environment. The main objective is to develop projects that provide solutions to environmental challenges that affect the well being of the community.

Interested parties have until Aug. 5 to submit their proposal, said Nancy Navales, vice President of Toyota de Puerto Rico. Applications must be submitted to Fundación Comunitaria de Puerto Rico, the entity in charge of managing the donations program and creating the committee that will evaluate all submitted proposals.

Since 1997, Toyota de Puerto Rico has granted about $1.5 million in funds to 119 nonprofits through its Environmental Donations Program, she said.

“This year we’re interested in proposals aimed at solving the issue of tire disposal or tire recycling; however, all proposals focused on the preservation of our natural resources are welcome,” said Navales.

Some topics of interest in submitting proposal include educational projects, initiatives focused on natural resource management; pollution management; wildlife, forest and water conservation, erosion and deforestation; methods of saving water and energy, promotion of clean air; awareness of recycling, reusing and reducing of waste, tire recycling businesses, as well as research projects.

The proposal application can be downloaded HERE. Upon completion, and must be delivered in person, with all required documents, to the Donor Services Office at the Puerto Rico Community Foundation. The application may also be requested via the following email or by calling the Donor Services Office at (787) 721-1037, ext. 202.
