Nonprofit community organizations with proposals to conserve the environment can get the resources they need to implement their projects through the Toyota Foundation Environmental Grants, which for the past 16 years has been contributing to environmental causes.

The entity, created by Toyota de Puerto Rico Corp. has helped numerous organizations that have excelled in their green initiatives.

“This new edition seeks to offer continuity to the work these educational and community organizations do for the environment at a time when we’re facing huge environmental challenges globally,” said Mario Dávila, president of Toyota de Puerto Rico.

Applications must be submitted by Aug. 16, with applications available at www.toyotapr.com/fundacion. This year, up to $75,000 in donations will be distributed among several entities. Some projects that could benefit from these donations are: ecological, environmental, educational, sustainable resource management, environmental pollution management, conservation and protection of wildlife, forests, and bodies of water; erosion control, deforestation; saving on water and energy consumption; promoting clean air; generating awareness of recycling, reusing, and waste reduction; research and others.

“Toyota has a responsibility to contribute to these initiatives that benefit the quality of life for all Puerto Ricans. As a company, we have strict policy of compliance with environmental laws, in all corners of the planet, but beyond that, we’re committed to contributing to the pursuit of initiatives to protect our planet,” Dávila said. “There are no small initiatives, every idea counts and we want to help make community projects a reality.”
