Triple-S Foundation announced a $200,000 investment to strengthen eight nonprofit programs that provide access to healthy food for vulnerable populations, including older adults who live alone and university students.

The supported organizations are Banco de Alimentos (Food Bank), Bill’s Kitchen, Caras con Causa (Faces with a Cause), Centro Madre Teresa de Calcuta (Mother Teresa of Calcutta Center), Comedor de la Kennedy (Kennedy Soup Kitchen), Lucha Puerto Rico, Universidad Central del Caribe (Central Caribbean University) with its Colmadito UCC (Little Corner Store) initiative, and Universidad del Sagrado Corazón (Sacred Heart University) with its Comedor Social Saludable (Healthy Social Canteen) program.

Each group is recognized for addressing food insecurity while also creating stronger community ties.

The foundation said the support prioritizes projects that address not only nutrition but also emotional health.

“The projects were selected, prioritizing those that, in addition to addressing food insecurity, integrate components to mitigate loneliness and social isolation,” the organization stated.

Triple-S Foundation Executive Director Lydia Figueroa said the organization is “honored to support initiatives that pave the way for hope in our communities,” noting that the projects aim to “bring food to those most in need, but also foster spaces for connection, mutual support and collective well-being.”

Triple-S Management President Thurman Justice added, “We deeply value the work of these organizations, which with dedication and sensitivity address urgent needs in our society. We trust that these initiatives will strengthen the physical and emotional health of our communities.”

Founded in 2017, the foundation shifted its mission in 2019 to focus on the social determinants of health, with food security and emotional well-being at the core of its work.
