Uber logged 175K users, 5K drivers in Puerto Rico in 2025

Uber remained embedded in Puerto Rico’s daily routines throughout 2025, logging activity from about 175,000 users and more than 5,000 drivers, according to year-end data released by the company.

From airport trips and festival weekends to late-night food orders, the app offered a snapshot of how residents and visitors moved, shopped and connected across the island.

Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport ranked as the most visited destination of the year, followed by La Placita de Santurce and Plaza Colón in Old San Juan — a lineup that reflects the intersection of tourism, commerce and nightlife. UberX remained the platform’s most-used ride option.

“2025 trends confirm that Uber is an app that accompanies people’s real lives. It connects local businesses, boosts everyday experiences and enables new opportunities,” said Carolina Coto, communications manager for Uber in Central America and the Caribbean.

Usage data highlighted notable activity on both sides of the platform. One driver completed more than 3,800 trips using Uber Comfort and Uber Black, while a single rider logged more than 1,300 trips during the year. Valentine’s Day generated the highest number of tips.

Saturdays produced the highest overall volume of activity, and the busiest travel day was Sunday, Jan. 19, driven by demand related to the San Sebastián Street Festival.

Uber Eats data pointed to clear preferences among delivery users. Mozzarella sticks topped food orders, followed by chicken nuggets, French fries, burgers and ice cream. Coffee was the most requested beverage, and beer was the most ordered alcoholic drink, ahead of margaritas and vodka bottles. Frequently ordered essentials included paper towels, toilet paper and ice.

The platform counted about 2,000 active restaurant and merchant partners in Puerto Rico. Among small businesses, Wingstop in Río Piedras, Panadería Mallorca de la 65 and Silk generated the most orders. One user placed 530 orders at Starbucks during the year, while another logged 390.

Safety tools also figured prominently. Drivers most often used in-app audio and video recording, and riders most frequently relied on the “Share My Trip” feature.

“In 2026 we will continue strengthening safety through technology,” said Manuela Bedoya, safety communications manager for the region, noting the company’s focus on safer everyday experiences.
